Verify your sending domain
The DNS records Pombo needs, and why.
Pombo will not send from a domain it can't authenticate. Under Settings, Domains, add the domain you send from and add the records it gives you.
The records
- DKIM. Three CNAME records that let mailbox providers confirm a message really came from you and wasn't altered in transit.
- SPF. A TXT record listing the servers allowed to send for your domain.
- DMARC. A TXT record telling providers what to do with mail that fails DKIM or SPF, and where to send reports.
Add all of them at your DNS provider exactly as shown. Verification is usually done within an hour; some providers take longer to propagate.
Which domain
Use a subdomain dedicated to sending, like mail.yourcompany.com or
send.yourcompany.com, rather than your root domain. It keeps your marketing
reputation separate from the rest of your email, and a DMARC policy on the
subdomain won't affect your other mail.
From addresses
Once verified, you can send from any address on that domain:
[email protected], [email protected], and so on. The
transactional and event-triggered send paths check the from address against your
verified domains and fail fast if it doesn't match.
