Goals and conversion tracking
Tell a sequence what success looks like.
A goal is the outcome a sequence is trying to produce: a purchase, a renewal, a reactivation. Setting one lets Pombo measure whether the flow is working and, optionally, stop emailing people who have already converted.
Setting a goal
On a sequence, choose a goal type:
- Event received. The contact triggers a named custom event (for example
purchase.completed) posted toPOST /api/v1/events. - Segment membership. The contact enters a segment you define (for example "has an active subscription").
What it does
- Every enrollment is tracked against the goal, so the sequence reports a conversion rate, not just opens and clicks.
- If you enable it, a contact who hits the goal mid-sequence is stopped, so they don't keep getting nudges for something they've already done.
Reading it
The sequence page shows conversions alongside sends, opens, and clicks. Compare against deliveries, not sends: a flow that reached half its list has a flattering rate and a real problem.
