Run Pombo from an AI agent
Connect Claude or another MCP client and build a campaign without opening Pombo.
Pombo runs an MCP server, so an AI agent can do what you would do in the app: draft campaigns, build sequences, manage contacts, read analytics. Anything that sends is still held for your approval and still passes the sending gates.
Before you start
An MCP-capable client (Claude, Cursor, or similar) and a Pombo account.
1. Add the server
In your client's settings, add a remote MCP server pointing at:
https://flypombo.com/mcp/sse
No API key to paste. See connecting an AI agent.
2. Sign in
The first call triggers an OAuth sign-in. Approve the connection in the browser tab that opens. The agent now acts on your organization, and every call is logged on your account.
3. Ask it to look around
Start with read-only requests to confirm the connection: "how many contacts do
we have", "list our templates", "what did our last campaign do". These use the
mcp:read tools. See what an agent can do.
4. Have it draft a campaign
Describe the send: "draft a campaign to contacts in the UK about our new pricing, two paragraphs, link to the pricing page". The agent creates the campaign as a draft, in your brand voice. It can also read a campaign back, revise it, swap its audience, or delete a draft it started.
5. Review and send
Open the draft in Pombo, or ask the agent to send you a test. Sending and scheduling are a click in Pombo, never something the agent does, so nothing goes out until you do it yourself. For an automated multi-step flow rather than a one-off, have the agent build a sequence instead.
What you have now
An agent connected to your account that can run the whole workflow. For a backend integration instead of an interactive agent, use the REST API.
