Segments
Build a live audience from filters on contact data.
A segment is a saved filter over your contacts. It's live: as contacts change,
membership changes with it. Segments are what you target campaigns at and what
segment_entry sequence triggers watch.
Building one
Under Segments, add conditions on any field: built-in ones like status and
created_at, or your own custom fields. Group conditions
with AND or OR, and nest groups for more complex logic (for example,
"subscribed AND (plan is pro OR lifetime_value over 500)").
The preview count updates as you edit, so you can see how many people a segment catches before you save it.
Using a segment
- Campaigns send to a segment or a hand-picked list.
- Sequences with a
segment_entrytrigger enroll a contact the moment they match, and can stop them if they later fall out. - You can describe a segment in plain language, or an agent can create one with
create_segment.
Tips
- Segments filter, they don't dedupe or merge. One contact, one row.
- A condition on a custom field that doesn't exist yet returns nothing rather than erroring, so build the field first.
