Images and assets
Host images once and reuse them across templates.
The asset library holds the images your emails use. Upload them once, and they get a stable hosted URL you drop into any template.
Adding images
Under Assets:
- Upload one or more image files.
- Generate with AI from a text prompt, sized for where it goes (square,
hero, wide, or tall). The result lands in the library tagged
ai-generated.
Over the API or an agent, upload_asset takes an image and returns its URL.
Using them
In the template editor, an image block pulls from the library. In raw MJML or
code, reference the hosted URL directly as the src.
Don't inline images as data: URIs. They render in Pombo's own preview but
Gmail and others strip them on delivery, so the recipient sees a broken image.
Host the file and use its URL.
Organizing
Tag assets to group them (a campaign name, a brand, logo). The library filters
by tag. Each asset also carries alt text, which is worth setting: it's what
shows when an image fails to load and what a screen reader reads.
Deleting
Removing an asset is permanent and can break templates that reference its URL, so the app warns you before it does.
