Creating and sending a campaign
A one-off send to a list or a segment.
A campaign is a single send to an audience you choose. Use it for anything that isn't automated: an announcement, a newsletter issue, a policy update, a flash sale. For anything recurring or triggered, build a sequence instead.
Walkthrough: Send your first campaign covers the whole path, from a new account to mail in the inbox.
Building one
Under Campaigns, create a campaign and give it a name. Then:
- Pick the email. Choose a full template, or generate one from a sentence and edit it.
- Pick the audience. A segment, or a hand-picked list of contacts. The recipient count updates as you choose.
- Set the subject. Merge tags work here too:
{{ first_name }}, your March update is here.
Sending
- Send now queues the campaign immediately.
- Schedule sets a date and time; it goes out then, in your account's time zone.
Either way, the send is checked against the sending gates per message, so an unapproved account or an over-cap week holds it and drains it once the gate clears.
After it goes out
The campaign page shows sends, deliveries, opens, clicks, bounces, and unsubscribes. Read opens and clicks against deliveries, not sends: a campaign that bounced a chunk of its list has a flattering open rate and a real deliverability problem to look at.
Suppressed contacts (unsubscribed, bounced, complained) are skipped automatically. You never have to scrub a list by hand.
