How Pombo helps you build email
Draft emails and audiences in plain language, then review every detail.
Pombo can turn a plain-language request into an email, an audience, or a sequence. It gives you a draft to inspect and edit. You can also use the visual editor, MJML, filters, and the rest of the product directly.
Start with a complete email draft
Describe the email you want and Pombo creates a template with sections, headings, buttons, images, and merge tags. Edit the result in blocks, or make a follow-up request such as "make the second email shorter and move the button up." If you work in raw MJML, the code editor can make targeted changes and will not save source that does not compile.
Drafts use your brand voice, which you set once in Settings.
See AI campaign generation and the template editor.
Describe an audience in everyday language
"Everyone who opened something in the last 30 days but has not clicked since June" can become a segment. Pombo turns the request into filters and shows the matching count before you save it.
The same applies to goals and to whole sequences: the flow, its steps and its timing come back as a draft you can rearrange.
Pombo sends field names and types, not contact rows, when it prepares a segment request. Read how Pombo handles data for assisted features for the full policy.
Use an agent when it is useful
Pombo also works with agents over MCP. Connect Claude, Cursor, or another MCP-capable client to import contacts, build a campaign, set up a sequence, or migrate an account.
Agent actions are logged. Sending still follows the same checks and approvals as sending from the app.
See connecting an AI agent and what an agent can do.
Sequences react to what people do
Most email tools start with a list. Pombo starts with an event. One POST from your backend says what somebody did, and any sequence listening for it enrols them:
POST /api/v1/events
Authorization: Bearer pombo_...
{ "event": "trial.started",
"email": "[email protected]",
"properties": { "plan": "pro" } }
The contact is created if Pombo has not seen them, and the properties you send become merge tags in the email. See events and event-triggered sequences.
Assisted features have a fallback plan
Some draft and planning features can try another provider when the first one cannot return a usable result. If Pombo cannot produce a valid draft, it tells you rather than pretending the request succeeded.
A draft never sends itself
Pombo can write, plan, and prepare a draft. Sending still requires account approval, a verified domain, permission to email the audience, and room within your weekly send cap. The same rules apply to an agent.
