Custom fields
Add your own attributes to every contact.
Custom fields are attributes you define on top of the built-in first_name,
last_name, email, and phone. Company size, plan, signup source, lifetime
value: anything you want to segment on or personalize with.
Creating one
Under Settings, Contact fields, add a field with a name and a type (text,
number, yes/no, or date). The name is normalized: Company Size is stored as
company_size and used in templates as {{ company_size }}.
Fields are also created automatically the first time a CSV import or an API call sends a value for a name Pombo hasn't seen.
Using them
- Merge tags:
{{ company_size }}in any template. - Segments: filter on the field like any other.
- Date fields can drive a
date_fieldsequence trigger (renewal dates, anniversaries).
Removing one
Deleting a field removes it from the Add Contact form. Existing contacts keep their stored values, but a segment filtering on it starts returning nothing and a date-triggered sequence naming it stops validating, so the app tells you what depends on a field before you remove it.
